The Rutgers Football team is starting to assemble some great team speed. This fact can be clearly seen from their latest commitment - Reggie Dixon. Dixon is among the fastest athletes in New Jersey State history. Earlier this year, he registered a 6.31 in the 55-meters. A mark that is second best ever in New Jersey history. Dixon is also a 3-time State Champion in the 55-Meters. In order to give you an idea of his speed, he has defeated three of his future teammates on the track Ken Britt, Mason Robinson, and Rashard White. All of which are considered to have game breaking speed.
Dixon made his decision final last Thursday, when he signed a National Letter of Intent. The proximity to home, the opportunity for his family and friends to see him play, and the Rutgers coaching staff were the main reasons why he selected the Scarlet Knights over offers from Temple. Boston College, and Maryland. Dixon was particularly impressed by Coach Schiano, who he states "is a great guy that allows you to feel comfortable around him. He is a great leader".
Dixon hopes his decision will compel other New Jersey players to select Rutgers. He stated "When Anthony Davis committed to Rutgers and now me, I hope that it will impact other players in NJ to attend Rutgers and put them another step closer to winning the National Championship".
Although Dixon was originally a part of the 2008 senior class, he was able to complete enough senior classes to possibly move his graduation up to June. For him to graduate in June, he will need to complete two more senior level classes. If he does complete these classes, he will join the team in summer camp. If not, he will probably join the team in January.
At Rutgers, Dixon will have a chance to display his great speed at slot receiver, kick returner, and punt returner. Although he is a star on the track, he has not decided if he will compete on the Rutgers track team.
