Manuel visits Rutgers, takes in Elite MVP

QB EJ Manuel from Bayside HS in Virginia Beach, Virgnia took an unofficial visit to the Rutgers campus today before heading off to the Elite combine in Northern New Jersey. His father, Eric Manuel, had some thoughts to share on both events.

"We went to Rutgers today for a few hours with EJ, (Head) Coach Moore, and myself. It was a real good visit. The visit was actually great. I got a real good vibe from the place. Coach Schiano was very up front and honest about his vision and direction for the program. He was very direct with us. He let us know about how he felt about EJ, about how he fits in to their plans. He told us about their QB situation. We were treated very nicely there. Coach Moore also felt very good about the place".

The one disappointing thing about the visit was the lack of time spent at Rutgers. "We came up for the elite combine, and that was our main focus. We unfortunately could only spend a few hours there. If the circumstances were different, we could have spent a few more hours talking".

After that visit, EJ Manuel headed up to the Elite combine and shined. "He took in offensive MVP and QB MVP honors. He gets to take home two pieces of hardware tonight. There were about 23 QB's there, and all of them showed they could throw the ball. But EJ definitely stood out with his performance. He threw some very good balls tonight. The combine was run very well and they had some good talent out there this evening".

There was a future Scarlet Knight on hand at the event that EJ connect with. "Anthony Davis was there and they spoke a bit. They both knew of each other. They exchanged phone numbers and will be keeping in touch in the future".

Up next for Manuel will be the Elite 11 and Nike Penn State camps. He will try to make it down to Florida State for a family trip in June.

Manual has 23 offers. Schools such as Miami, LSU, Maryland, have been linked with the signal caller.
