Mayes earns first offer

CB Grant Mayes from Seton Hall Prep in New Jersey is a prospect with great size, quickness, and athletic ability. His recent performance at the Elite combine caught the eyes of several coaches in attendance. And fortunately for him, resulted in his first scholarship offer.

Grant Mayes has always had a dream of playing Division 1 football. Those dreams have become closer to becoming a reality, as Grant earned his first offer from Illinois.

"I was recruited by Reggie Mitchell and I was so excited to get my first offer. I think Illinois is a great school with a great tradition. The elite was great. Chris Melvin and his staff did a great job of finding the top talent in the country. I had alot of fun defending the best talent in the country. The receivers were big and physical and it gave me a little glimpse of the kind of tall receivers I will have to defend on the college level. Purdue, UConn, Temple, BC, Syracuse, Maryland have all been in to see me. I'm so happy that Illinois gave me my first one. Now half of my dream is complete by earning a scholarship".

While Rutgers had been an early leader for Grant Mayes, they have not kept in touch as much.
