Speedster getting early visitors

RB/DB George Baker from Miami Archbishop Carroll HS is one of the more intriguing prospects in South Florida this year. The 5'11 170 pound Baker has great size, hips, and has been productive on the football field earning 1st Team All-Dade small classification honors last year.

But what make him such a glowing prospect are his combine numbers and track numbers this spring. He has run a sub 4.4 at various events. His electronically timed 4.37 at the Sparq combine is possibly the fastest in the state of Florida. His 39" vertical jump is also phenomenal.

Thus far, George Baker has received spring visits from Ole Miss, Kansas State, Bowling Green, Western Michigan, and Rutgers. While he has enjoyed speaking to those coaches, he simply wants to find a place that feels comfortable and can make an early impact. "I want to go to a school that wants me as a football player. Where I can go in and compete with other great football players, but be able to earn a starting job".

In terms of the schools that have been on campus, Baker is just finally starting to become comfortable with the attention. "I was feeling pretty nervous those first few days. My coach was just telling me to stay calm and enjoy myself. To go and have fun playing the game".

Of the coaching staffs that have come by, Ole Miss' Art Kehoe and Rutgers' Greg Schiano and Chris Demarest have made an impression. "Coach Kehoe is a real good guy. We have spoken on the phone a few times. They are recruiting for both offense and defense. With Rutgers, they came by yesterday. And I called Coach Schiano last night. I spoke to both him and Coach Demo. They were pretty cool. They wanted me to come and visit camp. They think that I would like the school".

Coach O'Leary from UCF and Eddie Gran from Auburn will visit George tomorrow. In the near future, he was told by his coach that Miami, Florida State, and Doc Holliday from Florida will be coming down.

Baker intends on visiting a few camps this summer. Which ones, he has no idea yet.
