Every year Pennsylvania produces some of the best talent in the nation and 2007 is no exception. The Keystone state will again host numerous college coaches looking to improve the fortunes of their programs. Among one of the most highly sought players is Hubie Graham. As a junior, he caught 35 passes for 615 yards and seven touchdowns from his TE position. On defense, he played defensive end and registered over 80 tackles, 3 sacks, and 4 tackles for loss. These numbers were good enough to garner second-team Class AAA All-State by the Associated-Press and first team All-Conference honors at both defensive end and tight end.
He stated that he bench presses 350lbs, squats 500lbs, and runs a 4.7 forty.
So far, Graham has received 23 scholarship offers from school such as Florida, Wisconsin, Michigan, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Clemson, and Iowa. Sometime in June, he will be narrowing down his list to about 10 programs.
Although he claims no favors among these schools, he provides comments on a few of them:
- Pittsburgh - "I have been there a few times and really like the coaching
staff particularly how down to earth they are. They will do good things down
- Rutgers - "Great program who had a great run last year. Their coaching
staff is great and has been able to get a lot of top recruits. I am interested
to see how they do this year".
- Connecticut - "Their head coach is doing a good job of turning the
- Clemson - "They have a great head coach and atmosphere. I am pretty
interested in them."
- Michigan - "They offered me pretty early. They have the Big House which
is a great place to play."
- Florida - "Just won the national championship. I was really honored
to get a scholarship offer from them. They are bringing a lot of good recruits
into the program."
The school of his choice has to be a place where he can fall in love with it. For this to happen, the school must have a great tradition, good coaching staff, and good academics.
During the summer, Graham will be visiting more schools. The list of the schools where he will visit will depend upon which schools makes his narrowed down list. His father will help with the decision to narrow down the schools then accompany him on each one of his official visits.
However, a final decision will not be made until he completes all of his official visits.
