Football - Seabrooks named Co-Defensive player of the week

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers safety Shawn Seabrooks has been named "Defensive Player of the Week" by the BIG EAST Conference for his performance in the Scarlet Knights' 44-0 win over Army last Saturday night.

Seabrooks, a senior from Paterson, NJ, helped spark the Scarlet Knight victory with his first quarter interception of Army quarterback Zac Dahman's pass, which he returned 33-ydards for Rutgers first touchdown. Seabrooks also added three tackles and broke up a pass for the Scarlet Knights in the victory.

Looking ahead to Pittsburgh

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- There was some concern that the remnants of tropical storm Hanna would wreak havoc on Pitt's game against UAB last night at Legion Field.  The bad weather stayed to the south, but UAB gave the Panthers all they could handle. Pitt overcame another special-teams gaffe -- a blocked punt returned for the Blazers' first touchdown, and didn't lock things up until the very end for a 26-20 victory in front of a crowd of 15,027 that seemed minuscule in the 83,000-seat stadium.
