Buie though undersized thinks of himself as a clone of the former great linebacker out of the university of Florida State, Derrick Brooks now a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Like Brooks Buie stands only 5' 10" and weighs196 pounds with a reported time in the forty of 4.6 dash.
Buie fits the mold of another former great from the state of Florida, Emmit Smith. Buie strength lies in his legs, vision and balance. Buie can squat over 440 pounds while benching about 230 pounds.
Colleges have started to look at Buie at the strong safety position, although Buie would like to play outside linebacker in college because he feels he can contribute to a team the same way he has on the high school level. It is hard to argue when you see the kind of chaos he caused as a junior posting numbers of 100 tackles 2 interceptions and 5 sacks. These are excellent numbers for most players but it should be noted that this is not his best side of the ball.
When you talk running back in the state of New Jersey you have to factor in Antonio Buie and colleges are listening. Such teams as Rutgers, Connecticut, Boston College, Syracuse and Temple have all visited this outstanding running back. Buie ran for almost 800 yards and 14 touchdowns while splitting time last year. This year as a feature back Buie expects those numbers to rise considerably and plans to also work on catching the ball out of the backfield more, skills he hopes to show off this summer at Rutgers camp.
Buie's favorite team growing up was Ohio State, so he would welcome an offer
from the Big Ten power. Rutgers will also be tough to beat out because he loves
the facilities at Rutgers and his family can watch his career up close, Syracuse
is another team he may consider because their fairly close and their in the
big east. Temple is a team he'll wait on to see where they stand as far as a
conference goes. A college with a good business management major has a leg up
because that's where Buie would like to pursue a degree in.
