With just under 80 squads in attendance, there were only a pair that advanced to the Schiano Shootout Finals: Don Bosco Prep (NJ)and Booker T. Washington (FL). In what wound up becoming a game of attrition, Don Bosco Prep held off a Booker T. Washington squad that breezed through the preliminary rounds with just 7 players.
The 2007 version of the Greg Schiano
Shootout would not see a repeat performance out of Pope John. Instead, this year's semifinalists consisted of a pair of NJ teams, and a pair of out of state squads. In one semifinal, Morris Hills HS faced off against juggernaut Booker T. Washington of Miami, FL. Booker T. had not been challenged all day until their quarterfinals victory against Cedar Grove. In this first semi-final, Booker T. pulled away to adavce to the championship game. The second semifinal game featured John F. Kennedy of Silver Springs, Maryland. Behind the stellar play of Melvin Harris
, a do-it-all utility man version of football, they advanced to face perennial Garden State power Don Bosco Prep.
In what follows, SOR brings you highlight clips from the championship game between Don Bosco prep and Booker T.
Fans should stay tuned for much more, including an in-depth review of the prospects in attendance, and numerous more video interviews with some familiar names and some that fans should soon become more familiar with.
