Rick Krautman, 5-9, 183, K, 4.7, Ramapo HS
This week Ricky Krautman broke the New Jersey state record for points scored by a kicker. I gave him a call on Sunday and asked him about breaking the state record:
"I am very excited to be a part of New Jersey history and I wanted to thank my team for getting the opportunity to kick so many extra points and field goals. I wasn't even focused on breaking the record I was just focused on helping my team win. I knew that the kick would break the record. My long snapper said to me 'you need one more' right before I kicked. Bergenfield tried hard to block it but my team really came through and gave me great protection.
They gave me the game ball after the game. I had four touchbacks, four extra points and a thirty eight yard field goal. One of my kicks I kicked off from the 25 due to a penalty and I was able to kick it to the eight."
"Rutgers and Hofstra are my two offers. I am getting calls from UVa, West Virginia, Indiana, Georgia, Marshall, San Jose State and Tulane."
"Rutgers and Hofstra since they have offered me"
On Rutgers and their early season performances
"Coach Schiano is only in his second year and I am sure that they'll do well. They sprang back from the first two games and shut out Army."
First games this year at Ramapo
"Probably about 85-90% of my kicks are going for touchbacks. I'd like to get that up to 90-95% and I think I can do that."
"None set up at this time. Hopefully I'll set them up in the next couple of months."
