King, who is coached by his father, is a tremendous athlete. A star on his AAU basketball team, King runs point guard averaging 12 points, 7 assists, 3 steals, and 4 rebounds per game. At only 5' 9", he has the athletic ability to dunk a basketball on a regulated rim, a very impressive feat.
King has a reported bench press of 305 pounds, leg press of 708 pounds, and claims to have run a reported 4.6 forty time at the Shumans combine camp after a minor slip at the start of the race.
King will weigh his options on whether he'd like to stay at Mataway HS or attend a prep school for his last 2 years as his current team runs an option offense limiting his opportunities to show off his pass catching abilities.
In 2007, King rushed for 450 yards on only 20 carries. He played behind a senior for the past two years. The week leading up to the game against Matawan's biggest rivals, the starting running back was injured creating a window of opportunity for him to shine. He took full advantage of that by having the biggest day of his high school career lugging the rock 28 times for 120 yards.
As a sophomore, King has no offers. However, he has a list of favorites starting with Florida State where he can reunite with his buddy Grosso and get a chance to compete against some of the best athletes in the country. West Virginia is another program he is interested in playing for because they have a minority coach and they seem to look past his lack of height and play smaller backs. His home state university Rutgers is another school because he doesn't mind getting the torch passed from Rice to King. Then there is perennial power Southern California because they seem to only recruit 5 star athletes something he hopes to attain as a senior.
Future goals for this young man include getting his forty time under 4.4, setting
the school record in the 100 meters, beating a Rahway team that showed them
up last year after beating them in the state tournament, and becoming All-American
