Jack Crawford visited Rutgers this Sunday. This time he went with his coach and family to check out the campus. He had strong things to say of his visit.
"This is my second time up to Rutgers. I liked it a lot. We got to go up
there and see all of the facilities. We spend some time with the players. I spent
a good amount of time with guys like Ray Rice, and Kenny Britt, and (Tiquan) Underwood.
They were good guys. I went and saw some film with the coaches, especially Coach
Godette and Coach Schiano. I like Coach Godette a lot. He is a good teacher. I
love Coach Schiano. He is doing some great things with the program. The program
is really taking off. He is a great coach and has them headed in the right direction".
In terms of his day, he learned some tid bits about the team that were appealing.
"They were the #4 defense in the country last year. They run and are very
athletic. But they are also undersized. I know that with my size and speed I could
really help them. They made me feel very wanted there. I want to go to a school
that sees me fitting in their plans, and that is something that I felt from Rutgers".
His family was also impressed by the visit. "They were surprised by Rutgers.
They liked the school and the coaches. The closeness to home also helps with them.
This is the first visit for them, and their second visit overall. They went with
me to Penn State. They liked that visit a lot as well. They feel that both schools
would be an excellent fit for me".
Crawford flies out Saturday morning to Ohio State. He returns home to NJ that
same evening. Then the following day, Sunday, will be heading out to Penn State.
"Ohio State really wanted me to visit and spend some time out there before
I made my decision. They want to show me around. It is a bit further away, but
they have an excellent program and am excited to see them. Then the following
morning we will take our second trip to Penn State. Our first visit to Penn State
was great. It is a beautiful school and they really are in to football over there.
Like Rutgers, they also made me feel very wanted and important to their program.
In terms of the schools, whereas Rutgers comes across as a more urban environment,
which is what I am used to, football just seemed like a bigger part of campus
life at Penn State. Both aspects are good in their own way".
Crawford wants to focus on his senior season and will be making a decision soon.
"I am hoping to have a decision made by Sunday night after I return from
Penn State. It will be between Rutgers, Ohio State, and Penn State. I am open
to all three. I am sure I will like aspects of all the different schools. It will
most likely come down to where I feel most comfortable at".
