"I think kids from
the Pahokee area tend to be under-rated. If I played in a different part of the
country, I perhaps would get more respect. But overall, as a football player,
I work hard and think I am one of the best Db's in the country. And I was fortunate
enough to go to several camps and combines, and should coaches how I could perform.
Every school I went to, the coaches told me they wanted. They were all telling
me I am a great player".
Jenkins took trips this summer to places such as Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Clemson, Rutgers, and South Carolina. "All the schools offer something a little different. I liked every place I visited. The coaches treated me well every where I went".
The 4-star prospect according to Scout.com has no favorites at this point, and will try to narrow things down in the fall.
"I liked all the places I visited. I am open to everybody. The
plan is to sit down midway through the season, narrow down my choices, and then
commit soon thereafter. While I want to take my visits after the season, I would
like to make a commitment in the fall".
Jenkins has kept in touch with all his suitors this summer. One coach who has made a favorable impression is Rutgers' DB Coach Chris Demarest. "I called Coach Demo last week. We spoke for a while. He really wants me to be a part of the class. He tells me I am a special player and could help them in their goals of becoming a national championship level team. We have a good relationship".
Overall, Jenkins' main focus right now is on the upcoming football season. "Recruiting is great and all, but my focus is working out with my teammates and winning a championship this year. Martavious (Odoms), myself, and a few other players have been running hills daily to work on our speed and explosiveness. We have our first game on Friday against Clewiston. We want to put on a good show and play ball".
