Sam Johnson (TE, 6'3"-245) is one of the best tight end prospects in the state of New Jersey. He has over 15 scholarship offer but list his top schools as Boston College, Syracuse, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, and Maryland. Currently, he lists Boston College and Syracuse as this leaders with Rutgers third. Pittsburgh and Maryland share the number four spot.
During the weekend of September 7th, he visited Boston College and really enjoyed the 34-27 Boston College victory. Along with the game, he enjoyed the atmosphere the coaching staff and the players.
This weekend, he plans to visit Syracuse. Johnson grandfather played for the Orangemen and it was a childhood dream of his to play of them. Although this was during his childhood, he still has other reasons to favor the Orangemen. He has family, on his father side that lives the area and he likes the fact that they would have an opportunity to see him play. Therefore, Syracuse is might have a slight lead over Boston College.
He has Rutgers as his third favorite and will probably visit after his football season. Some of the reasons that he likes the Scarlet Knights are:
- might want to be part of the turn around of the program.
- Feels that the coaches are great people.
Will he make an early decision?
Johnson does not rule out the possibilities of making a commitment after his visit to Syracuse. If so, he will decide between either Boston College or Syracuse. Before making a decision, he wants to feels comfortable with the school, coaches staff, and his decision. As every prospect, he wants no regrets.
