Hamm has taken 1 visit & scheduling more

Marquis Hamm is quickly becoming one of the hottest players in New Jersey. Currently, he holds scholarship offers from Colorado, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Toledo, Iowa, Rutgers, and Temple. West Virginia, USF, Michigan and Louisville have been showing a lot of interest in the 6'4"-225lb DE from New Brunswick H.S. With the season drawing to a close, Hamm has started to plan visits & has a top 5.

As the high school football season draws to a close, Hamm has developed a list of his top 5 schools. These schools are Rutgers, Iowa, Cincinnati, Syracuse and Colorado. He has already visited Colorado and plans on scheduling his final 4 visits over the next few weeks.

Two weeks ago, Hamm visited the campus of Colorado. He stated that "the surroundings were amazing. We had a chance to go into the mountains. I never saw anything like it before. It was breath taking. You could see from miles and miles around". Similar to most of the schools recruiting Hamm, Colorado is recruiting Hamm as a DE. As Hamm states, "they want me to play as a stand-up OLB and rush end because of my ability to play". Although Colorado is quite a distance from New Jersey, Hamm states "distance is not a problem so I could see myself going there".

Iowa is a team that Hamm states "are a pretty good football team. I am planning on taking a visit out there to find out more. I like the way Coach Wilson describes the school and the program. It seems like I would fit right in".

The other three schools on Hamm's list are from the Big East conference. Among these schools are the Cincinnati Bearcats. Hamm states that "they are a rising program and have been good in the past. My recruiting coach said that I could start as a freshmen". The aggressiveness of the defense has captured his attention and he wants to find out more about the program. He feels "their offense can move the ball. If the defense can stop people, they can really be good".

Hamm also likes the Orangemen and the feelings are apparently mutual. Syracuse has been recruiting Hamm hard, maybe the hardest among his suitors. As Hamm says "they like me a lot. They have a lot of young guys and they are planning on building a better program. I like that they do not give up. Although they might not win a lot of games, they still get after it".

The Scarlet Knights is another team that Hamm likes a lot. Over the last two years, Hamm has paid numerous visits to the Rutgers campus. He likes the fact that Rutgers is in close proximity to his home. But he also has another link to the Rutgers program. His cousin is Rutgers starting WR Tiquan Underwood. Hamm actually hangs out with Underwood's younger brother every weekend and regularly talks to Underwood's mother. Hamm would like to have his family and friends see him play. Therefore, this will play a factor in his recruitment.

Since his team's playoff schedule is not set, Hamm is not sure where he will visit next. Once the schedule is set, he will setup the remainder of his visits. He will likely take all five of his visits before making a final decision.

Note: On defense, he has registered 37 tackles (26 solo) and 4 sacks. On offense, he plays WR and has 17 catches for 378 yards. His team has a 4-2 record. Their next game is against South River.
