Two star prospect Jarel Lowery still doesn't have a list of favorite schools yet. "I'm wide open," Lowery said. "Anyone is really in it."
The Paterson, N.J. native said Maryland has shown him the most interest and that he's received offers from a lot of Big East schools such as Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and Rutgers. He's also been shown interest by Michigan State, Boston College, and South Carolina.
"I've been to Maryland and Rutgers," he said. "I like what I saw while I was at those schools, both coaches were really nice. I can see myself playing for either one of them. I haven't really spoken to Rutgers, but my coach told me that they're very interested. I plan to visit other schools, but right now I‘m worried about my season and trying to win states."
Lowery couldn't pinpoint when he would make his decision. "I plan on making it after the season," he said. "But I don't have an exact time frame."
Academics will be the No. 1 factor in what school he chooses. His feelings towards the coaches in terms of getting along with them is also one of his main priorities. Team prestige and team chemistry will also play a role.
The 6-foot-2 292 pound defensive end had eight tackles, two sacks, and a fumble recovery that he ran for 55 yards in Paterson Catholic's 40-7 victory and the team is now 9-0 on the season.
