Smith has 2 visits down, 2 planned

New Jersey's best uncommitted senior football player is Ath/S Brandon Smith. He holds over 30+ offers and has completed two visits. Two more visits are planned and he is in the process of determining where he will take his last visit. See where he is planning on visiting.

At 6'2"-210lbs with 4.5 speed and ability to play multiple positions on both sides of the ball, players like Brandon Smith are not easy to find. This is the reason why Smith holds more than 30 scholarship offers from school throughout the nation.

With the football season drawing to a close, Smith has started to take visits. To date, Smith has completed visits to Michigan and Colorado. Visits to Wisconsin and South Carolina are in the planning stages. There are four schools competing for his fifth visit. These schools are Oklahoma, West Virginia, Rutgers and Virginia Tech. A decision on his fifth visit will not be made until he concludes his visit to South Carolina.

It has been rumored that Michigan has been the leader for his services. However, Smith claims that there are no leaders among the many schools that have tendered an offer. The Big Ten school was his first visit. Smith stated that the visit gave him a chance to "get a great feel for the whole team. I watched them go through their pre-game practice, play a game and see what they do after a game. I also got a chance to talk to people from the Criminal Justice Program".

Smith second visit was to the University of Colorado where he was accompanied by his teammate Marquise Hamm. The visit was during Colorado's upset of Oklahoma. He stated that "the atmosphere was great. Everyone should have an opportunity to see that place. It is beautiful". Smith left impressed with the team upset of the Top 10 program. He stated "the game let me see how the players and coaches had no fear in beating Oklahoma. They believe that they could win and did"..

South Carolina is among the schools Smith has plans to visit. Smith stated "Coach Spurrier is one of the best coaches ever. Everyone should have an opportunity to play for him. They like for me to play both offense and defense and could help the team greatly". These possibilities have intrigued Smith enough to warrant a visit.

Another program that will likely obtain a visit is Wisconsin. Smith's former teammate Jonathan Casillas is a starting LB for the program. With a former teammate in the program, Smith obtains a lot of inside information from Casillas which gives the school an advantage. Smith states "they have had some bad losses (this year) but next year they have a chance to compete for the national championship. I thought that they would not lose a game (this year) but it has been a crazy year in college football'.

One of the schools being considered for Smith's fifth visit is Rutgers. As Smith states, "they are still in the hunt. Coach Schiano has really built the program. I feel as though I could really help the program get better. They are less than 10 minutes away from my home. I see them a lot. I am not sure if they will be my 5th official visit. They have an advantage because I have a chance to see their players day to day".

Smith plans on making his final decision during the U.S Army All-American game. Therefore, all of his suitors will have to wait to know if they will have his services for the next four to five years.
