Wallace readies to take his first visit

A short while ago, Georgia Tech was the favorite for three star TE Ryan Wallace. With Chan Gailey fired by the Yellow Jackets, come see how Wallace's list looks now and see how he feels about Rutgers.

Three star tight end prospect Ryan Wallace had Georgia Tech as his favorite a short while ago. With the firing of Head Coach Chan Gailey, Wallace said it's "even" between Rutgers, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, and Colorado as of now. Georgia Tech is still in the hunt and he's hinted that a big factor in him choosing the Yellow Jackets would be if tight ends coach Jeep Hunter stays there.

"The fact that they fired the coach does change things a little, but they're still recruiting me," Wallace said. "I'm waiting to see who their next head coach will be and if they will keep coach Hunter. I have to see if I'm comfortable with the new coach and if they're still going to pursue me. I really like coach Hunter. I have a really good relationship with him and he's also the position coach there."

Last Friday at a Bowling Green High School game, Rutgers tight end coach Joe Susan was in the stands watching and had a chance to talk to Wallace after the game. Wake Forest and Colorado recruiters were also present in the crowd.

"We talked about the game and he said how impressed he was with our team's composure," he said. "We had five turnovers on our first five possessions are were down 13-0, but we came back and won 35-13. He liked the way I played and my mentality."

The tight end out of Kentucky has been able to catch the Scarlet Knights in action on television, and had some mixed things to say about their recent performance. "I've been really keeping up with them lately," he said. "I figured they would be in a better bowl by the way they've played lately, but at least they're still in one. I got to watch the game against Louisville on Thursday and they were having a lot of success early. I was impressed with the way they were playing until they let Louisville come back in the end."

The 6-foot-5 230 pound tight end did see some positives in the Rutgers game and has been told by Susan that he's a future starter. "I really like their offense," he said. "Coach Susan said that I can be an every down tight end."

Wallace will be visiting Rutgers on Dec. 14. He said that they have been showing him the most interest since they came into the picture late. He said he will be visiting Wake Forest "for sure" but didn't have an exact date yet. If things don't work out with Georgia Tech, he will make his decision after he visit's the two schools. If things do work out with the Yellow Jackets, he will visit them also and then most likely make his final choice soon after.
