Focus '09: Ryan Lang

Ryan Lang [6-foot-5 and 260-pounds], by way of Hamilton HS East (Steinert), NJ, is a big and athletic prospect that many schools are just now beginning to hear about. Lang, who excels equally on the field as he does in the classroom put together an impressive Junior Season that has caught the attention of several colleges.

Ryan Lang stands at 6-foot-5 and 260-pounds and attends Hamilton HS East (Steinert), in NJ. Lang has played on the offensive side of the ball, at tackle, but has excelled on the defensive side of the ball, at D-End. Lang recorded 99 tackles during his Junior season, 58 of which were solo, in addition to racking up 5.0 sacks. Lang also intercepted 1 pass from his DE spot. This upcoming season Lang will also play the tight end [TE] spot at Hamilton HS East, underscoring the athletic ability this young man possesses.

Lang hasn't been timed in the 40-yard dash recently but did put together an impressive 4.9-second effort at the Rutgers summer football camp last year.

Although he has yet to receive his initial offer, Lang is currently hearing from a number of schools including Rutgers, Princeton, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Yale, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Syracuse.

Last month Lang also had the opportunity to attend the second of two Rutgers Junior Days.

"It was really cool to see the whole campus at Rutgers. I loved the weight room and all the facilities they have," stated Lang.

"I had the opportunity to meet with Coach Susan and [newly retired] Coach Jackson. Coach Susan seems like a real good guy, down to business, and very approchable," stated Lang, who is being recruited by the South River, N.J. native and Rutgers Recruiting Coordinator.

Lang plans on attending the Nike Camp being held on Sat., May 10th at State College, Pa. In addition, Lang will also be attending the Princeton Junior Day being held on April 5th.

Besides the BCS Schools currently showing Lang interest, there are a number of top notch academic schools that are recruiting the Jersey product. Princeton has extended a Junior Day invite along with Penn, and Yale who are also showing significant interest. Lang, who excelled as a Junior on the field, also boasts an impressive 3.66 GPA.
