Gillespie chose Rutgers over Syracuse. He is a team mate of Tre Timbers and a friend of Berkeley Hutchinson.

He was an attendee at the Rutgers Camp this summer.

As a junior Ken had 54 tackles, 10 sacks and forced 2 fumbles.

He is noted for a combination of exceptional speed and strength.

Gillespie is a TE, DE who will projects as a Linebacker, Safety for the Scarlet Knights.

This quote from Chris Melvin:

"Ken Gillespie is one of the fastest and strongest players you'll find in NJ.
What position will he play? Anywhere....he is that athletic!
He is actually the fastest player on the Long Branch Green Wave football team. He plays DE....I classify him as a Strong-safety. He is one of the top sleepers you'll find in the state because he is playing out of position.
I actually timed him in the 40 over the summer along with some other of his teammates. The problem was he was injured with a sprained-ankle.
BIG PROBLEM WE MAY SAY! NO PROBLEM GILLESPIE SHOWED - by running a 4.5 three times in a row. With a swollen ankle....
and standing 5-11 and 200 pounds.
What a steal for Rutgers ... and a loss for everyone who knew nothing about him!"
