RU Signee Marcus Cooper checks in

In November, three-star wide receiver Marcus Cooper verbally committed to Temple. A change of mind led him to make the switch and eventually signed his letter of intent with Rutgers.

With six offers from Rutgers, Temple, Akron, Buffalo, Delaware and Troy, Cooper decided to go with the Scarlet Knights instead of the Owls because it brought more to the table.

"It's just a better place, better facilities, fan support and academics," he said. "It was a no brainer."

To finally get to sign his letter of intent with the Knights was something the Bloomfield, Ct. native has been looking to do for a long time.

"It felt great, this is what I wanted," Cooper said. "Rutgers is a good place for me."

One of the things Cooper likes about the Knights is Head Coach Greg Schiano's demeanor and what he's doing with the program.

"I like his interaction with the players," he said. "A lot of recruits like him, and he seems like a guy you can go to if you have a problem. I'm excited and impressed with how he has turned things around."

The increase in players at Rutgers' Pro Day and those getting drafted is just another thing that the 6-foot-2 175 pound receiver likes about the college. "It shows they can put out athletes in large numbers, which is a positive," Cooper said.

He's gotten a chance to meet most of the recruits and has been in contact with 2008 commits Timothy Wright, Keith Stroud and Devon Watkis. Cooper has also talked with Tiquan Underwood, Kenny Britt and the rest of the receiving core.

Cooper will report to Rutgers on June 21.
