New Rochelle High School is where Rutgers senior safety Courtney Greene and former standout running back Ray Rice made names for themselves before moving on to don the scarlet uniforms.
Rice has talked to Tremayne Williams and the junior safety/wide receiver said that talking to Rice has been very beneficial.
"He's a very good person," Williams said. "We basically talk about combine stuff. Pylometrics, my start in the 40 time and running the pro agility drills."
Rutgers did send a coach down to Williams' high school to visit him and was given a questionnaire and the coaches email address. He doesn't know if the Scarlet Knights will send him an offer, but he does like the campus.
"I like the school and surrounding there," he said on Rutgers.
Syracuse is a school nearby where's been able to go up there twice on visits. Williams went up there for a Junior Day and for a spring practice.
"It was good there," he said. "I like the campus and the people around it."
On the field, Williams was primarily used at receiver until injuries on the defense led to the coach having to put him on the defensive side of the ball. He made the coach look good in the playoffs winning the MSG MVP in the Sectional Championship and Defensive MVP in the State Semi-finals. In the Sectional Championship, he had nine tackles and a 98 yard interception return for a touchdown.
"I'm a hard worker," Williams said on what makes him a good player. "No matter what I'll try anything and I'm coachable."
In regards to camps, he plans on going to a Syracuse camp and the Lafayette First and Goal Camp on June 1. At the Blue/Gray Camp held at Giants Stadium, he registered 9.3 inches on the standing broad jump and 11 reps of 185 pounds on the bench.
The three biggest factors in William's decision are the area where the campus is located, the style of football the team plays and the coaching staff.
