Hayward To Make a Decision the Season

After only possessing one offer for quite awhile, the door has opened and more teams are coming into the Aaron Hayward race. As his recruiting process is coming down the home stretch, he's starting to map out some visits before he makes his final choice.

Rutgers had been the lone offer in Hayward's possession, but after handing out some highlight tapes, other colleges have come into the mix. North Carolina came on board second, and then Pittsburgh and Cincinnati soon followed bringing his scholarship count to four.

Hayward said he didn't know much about the programs at the time, but said his cousin played for the Bearcats and his uncle went to Pitt.

Decision time for Hayward will still be around late June to early July and he will like to knock out some visits before he makes his final choice. With his Penns Grove High School team, they will attend a Boston College camp. He also plans on attending a couple of one day camps. He will make visits to all the schools that have offered including Iowa if they send an offer his way.

"I'm going to all the schools that sent me offers except for Rutgers because I've been there so many times already," Hayward said. "I will also go to Iowa if they offer."

The four-star prospect from Carneys Point, N.J. doesn't mind what position he plays when he goes to college, but would like to be used as a hybrid player.

"I would like to be like a Percy Harvin type guy," Hayward said.

On screens, reverses and in the backfield were some of the ways he said he's been used in high school and the coaches also have plans for him to take snaps under center his senior year.

The playing style a team has will factor into his decision along with a school's graduation rate and how he feels with the players.

"I want to go to a place where it's a family-like atmosphere with the players," Hayward said. "Kordell Young told me that he's been too places where players keep their distances from the younger guys and I don't want that."
