Decision Looms For Bush

Malcolm Bush, out of Hackensack High School, has been to Rutgers and really likes what he's seen there. He's currently holding six offers and the Scarlet Knights are up there on his radar screen.

Bush's last visit to Piscataway was very productive and he was able to get a lot of vital information out of it.

It wasn't just another typical trip in his book because he was able to meet some prominent people associated with Head Coach Greg Schiano's program.

"It was very good," the 6-foot-5 235 pound Bush said about his most recent trip to Rutgers. "I got to meet a lot of important people and they let me know about the school. I met the academic advisor, the president of athletics, Coach Susan and Coach Schiano."

Bush said he was able to have a long talk about the team with Schiano and he also had the chance to meet some of the players. Out of the group, he was able to meet star signal-caller Mike Teel, standout receiver Tiquan Underwood, Kevin Brock and Hackensack High School alum Davon Smart. He was able to gain some insight about the Knights from hanging around the players and how they function as a unit.

"It's a brotherhood," Bush said about how the team gels together. "That's what I got from them by watching them workout and being in the locker room."

Right now, the tight end/ defensive end has five other offers outside of his Rutgers one from Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Connecticut and Syracuse. He has a top five and the Scarlet Knights are on top.

The remaining four in order goes Florida, Tennessee, Pittsburgh and North Carolina. The Knights are on top of the list because they're an in-state school and he's impressed in the direction that Schiano has them going in.

"It's close to home," Bush said on why Rutgers is his favorite so far. "Also [Head Coach Greg] Schiano and everything he's doing."

Bush said there's a possibility of him going to a North Carolina or N.C. State camp doing the summer, but said he will definitely go to a Scarlet Knights camp at the end of June.

In what will factor into his final decision, Bush said the style of offense and how they use the tight end, the coaching staff and location of the school. He was originally planning on making his decision on Sunday, but said he has some more thinking to do after visiting Florida and Tennessee.

The final call will come either at the end of the month or towards the summer he said.
