North Carolina DT with interest in Rutgers

Curtis Porter, 6'2 335 lbs, from Victory Christian HS in Charlotte NC is a prospect who is quickly exploding on the recruiting scene. Porter mostly played along the offensive line last year, but is projecting as a top prospect along the interior defensive line.

Curtis Porter a 3-star DT/OG prospect just completed a tour of Miami , Florida and Florida State with his mentor and 4-star WR Jheranie Boyd. He had a standout performance at the recent Florida Night Lights camp while at the University of Florida campus and turned the heads of several coaches there. "It was a great event and I really liked it there. I have known Omar Hunter and that is my boy. I spoke a bit with Coach Urban Meyer and he came across as a very good person and he is the kind of man I could develop a genuine friendship with as a person and not only a coach. The defensive coaches were also really involved in teaching and helping us get better". After his Florida trip, he made it north to visit Florida State and stated that was "a really good visit and a very nice campus. I thought it went well".

Some of the other schools involved with Porter include Colorado , East Carolina, Duke, UNC and Michigan . He reports offers from all the aforementioned schools.

Porter will take a visit to Clemson, a school his mentor Joseph Johnson anticipates offering. "Last year, Curtis played a lot of OG, but now being at a new school, he going to focus on the DT position. He is on the verge of truly exploding as a national player. I think he could end up with a ton of offers".

And as of late, he has begun doing his research on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, a program he has high interest in as well. Porter says "I know some people down here that have a lot of respect for that program. The school has a lot of history and has a great reputation. They are a school a really want to check out and see if I am a good fit there".

Porter, who is a load of a man, states that he could play excel at either the 1 or 3 techniques at the next level. "I consider myself a player who is great at clogging up holes. I have good size and play with leverage".

Currently Porter is benching 350 pounds and squatting 550 pounds. He ran a 5.2 40-yard dash at a recent camp.

He wants to take his time and not rush in to a quick decision. He also stated some of the things he hopes to find in a school. "I really want to see as much as I can and make the best possible decision. I am looking for the right school. I want big time football. I am looking for a place with a great business school that stresses academics and helps the players succeed. I want a family atmosphere among the players and coaches and a good social atmosphere. I also consider myself a religious person".

Porter carries a 3.2 GPA and hopes to graduate in December and enroll in the spring.
