SOUTH BEND, INDIANA (TICKER) -- Notre Dame's slumbering offense finally awakened.

Carlyle Holiday tied a school record with four touchdown passes - three coming in a 28-point third quarter - as the eighth-ranked Fighting Irish routed hapless Rutgers, 42-0, for their first 10-win season in nine years.

After sputtering for the previous 10 quarters, Notre Dame's offense was unstoppable in the third period, putting together scoring drives of two, one, two and six plays.
