Video Interview: Fabian Ruiz

Fabian Ruiz spent last season redshirting after suffering an early season injury. Ruiz took advantage of the opportunity to become more accustomed to the pace and intensity of college football. After putting forth a strong effort in the summer workout program, the Rutgers Freshman TE will be in the mix pursuing significant playing time.

Fabian Ruiz arrived to Rutgers, as true Freshman, in the 225-lb range. After gaining 20 pounds and healing from injuries sustained during his initial collegiate campaign, Ruiz has changed his body, grown more accustomed to college, and put himself in a position to see an increased numbers of reps.

The First Team All-Dade selection, as a high school senior, according to the Miami Herald, now enters his second summer camp with high hopes of seeing important playing time, perhaps backing up starting TE Kevin Brock, who enters his final season On The Banks.

Ruiz, alongside his teammates, took full advantage of the summer workout program, focusing on the physical aspects of the game. "Individually and I think as a team, the summer went great. I gained weight, I gained muscle and I got faster," stated Ruiz, in reference to his summer season progression, prior to pre-season camp.
