Rutgers Defeats Fordham

RU blew out the Rams for most of the game, giving Gary Waters a chance to play a lot of newcomers in anticipation of the Knight's Big East Schedule.

Rutgers jumped out to a 51-32 halftime lead led by the hot shooting of Jerome Coleman (22 first half points - 5 three pointers). The Rams really did not challenge as Gary Waters emptied his bench in a first stanza that saw 10 Rutgers players get into the scoring column. The Knights held Fordham to thirty per cent from the field.

In the second half Rutgers had its usual let down allowing the Rams to come within 11 points for the final score.

Jerome Coleman led all scorers with a career high 34 points. Ricky Shields had 12 points, Adrian Hill had 8 points and four blocks

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) Rutgers coach Gary Waters realizes that December is a time to gear up for the Big East schedule, and part of that is giving his freshmen some experience.

He did just that Wednesday night and got some positive results as Adrian Hill, Cortez Davis and Calvin Wooten combined for 25 points in helping the Knights to a 94-83 win over Fordham.
