Big Recruiting Weekend at Rutgers

Rutgers has a crucial game on the slate this Thursday night when it faces Louisville. A win will play a big factor in where the team plays a bowl game. But it also gives Rutgers a chance to showcase its talent and atmosphere as it hosts some of its top prospective recruits.

Justin Brown- Concord, DE. The four-star WR from Delaware is a big target for the Scarlet Knights.

Malcolm Bunche- Newark, DE - The once Rutgers verbal commit now expects to go through the recruiting process. He is a very large man with big upside. He is also on the radar of schools such as Miami and UConn.

Paul Carrezola- Neshaminy, PA (RU Commit)- Big, physical TE from PA was an early RU commit. He could be a factor as a blocker or receiver down the road.

Duron Harmon - Caesar Rodney, DE - (RU Commit) A DB that can play either the CB or FS position. He has great size; he is very well put together physically and plays with great range. Also a standout at RB in High School.

Gerald Hodges- Paulsboro, NJ- (RU Commit)- This S/LB is considered one of the jewels of this recruiting class. He is also considering Penn State. The South Jersey prospect will be a major coupe if the Scarlet Knights can hang on. Will be a major impact player in college.

Shawney Kersey- Woodbury, NJ (RU Commit)- At WR, Kersey has good size and elite speed. He is considered a top prospect in the state. He should be a needed downfield threat once he reaches the Banks.

Michael Larrow- Union, NJ (RU Commit)- Larrow projects at either DE or DT. Big young man with a thick frame, long arms and a strong motor. Comes from Union, HS which has sent several prospects to RU in the recent years.

Antwan Lowery - Christopher Columbus, FL. Lowery is a large lineman from Miami, Fla. In the 6'4 330 range, Lowery runs very well for a person of his size. If he gets his conditioining down, he could be an impact player down the road. Brother Antonio plays LB at RU. He will decide between Rutgers, Miami and Florida.

Jamal Merrell- Hodgson Vo-Tech, DE -The Merrell Twins bring great height, speed and versatility. Jamal stands at 6'5 200 and can play Safety, LB, or even TE at the next level.

Jamil Merrell- Hodgson Vo-Tech, DE -Jamil is a tad shorter and thicker than his twin brother. Will likely play OLB or DE in college. Plays with a motor and is physical. The twins are impact recruits that RU seems very high on.

Logan Ryan- Eastern, NJ- (RU Commit) Tall, rangy CB with a good frame. Turns hips and runs very well. A star QB also in high school. A very articulate and bright young man who is considered the top CB in the state of NJ.

Mohammed Sanu- South Brunswick, NJ (RU Commit) First commmitment of the 2009 class. He will enroll in January. Showcased his great physical talents at QB in the NJ-NY All Star Classic last year where he was arguably the best prospect on the field. Should be a very good player in college. May be given an opportunity at QB, but likely headed towards S or OLB.

Tom Savage - Cardinal O'Hara, PA- (RU Commit) QB is considered the jewel and leader of this class. Great size, arm and incredible leadership and charisma. Elite 11 QB and one of the most highly regarded players on the East Coast. He will play in the Army All American game.

Abdul Smith- Perkiomen School, PA- (RU Commit) Great size, hips and speed. Could be a difference maker at the CB or Safety spot. An absolute stud on the combine circuit and the RU Summer Camp.

Jeff Vinson- Lackawanna Junior College, PA Huge JUCO OT that stands in the 6'6 350 range. Has already taken an official visit to Oklahoma. It appears that RU is strongly considering going after a JC OL in this class.

Khalil Wilkes - Saint Peter's Prep, NJ- Athletic OL with great footwork and technique. Projects as an interior offensive lineman. He comes from St Peter's Prep, one of the most storied programs in NJ. Father played at RU. Is this the year that RU breaks in to St Peter's? Very strong academic kid who is also looking at Stanford, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
