Justise Hairston

Justise Hairston, 6-2, 220, RB, 4.5, New Britain, Connecticut

This note from Justise's High School Coach, Mark Blancato about Justise's verbal to Rutgers:

"Coach Schiano just never gave up. He was a real man about it when Justise chose Iowa over Rutgers. He showed no bad feelings at all. He took it well and just continued to follow Justise. That really helped out. Leadership is Justise's greatest asset and his athletic ability. He has unbelievable balance, tremendous ability. Plays way above the players around him, like Tubucky Jones, who I played with. Same kind of thing. Man amongst boys"

Later I got in touch with Justise and asked a few questions:

Why did you chose Rutgers?

"Cause of Coach Schiano basically, I believe in him and in what he can do?"

Who did you have offers from?

"Penn State, Purdue, Iowa, UConn as well as Rutgers"

When will you enroll, are you qualified?

"I will enroll on January 20th. I am fully qualified."

How solid is this commitment?

"I am absolutely sure that this is the place that I am going to go."

Will you still take anymore visits?

"I will not take any other visits. I will most likely take one to Rutgers."

Hairston gives Rutgers the power back they have been lacking. As a senior in high school Hairston missed five games with an injury but in his last six games he had an incredible1,300 yards and 19 TDs.

What would he tell Rutgers fans?

"I just want to help build the program."
