Isaac Holmes, a 3-star and ranked #29 DT prospect in the nation by Scout.com took his visit to Rutgers. He shared some thoughts on the trip. "It was a great visit. My dad and I had a great time. We loved the presentation Rutgers made. My dad also spent a lot of time speaking with the coaches and getting to know them better. Rutgers is the home school and it is a great program".
Holmes, who is being recruited by OL Coach Kyle Flood, also got to spend some time with Head Coach Greg Schiano. "I had a nice sit down talk with Coach Schiano. We talked about football and non-football related stuff. He told me to enjoy myself on the visit. He said to look around and see if I was comfortable with the school. He told me to make sure I was making the right decision for myself".
When asked if he had a comfort level with the school, Holmes said "most definitely, I feel very comfortable with them. They are really up there".
Holmes was hosted on his trip by Freshman Defensive Player Eric LeGrand.
Rutgers told him that they are considering him for either the 3-technique or the nose tackle position. "Rutgers has a lot of DT in the 265-270 lb range. There are not too many guys my size weighing 285 lbs. I could make an impact in the middle with my size and strength".
He is still considering two other programs, Pitt and Maryland.
In regard to his Pitt visit, he said "I had a great time out there. I got to spend some time with Shariff Harris who is really enjoying himself there. They showed me a lot of love….My boy (teammate) Bernardo Nunez is going there and that was the right place for him. I am really happy for him and wish him the best. If we play together that would be great. But his decision does not impact me that much".
Regarding Maryland, he said "Everytime I go to Maryland I have a great time. The players and coaches are great. I have always felt at home there".
Holmes will let things settle down a bit over the next week and hopes to make a final decision around signing day.
