Athletic Signal Caller Makes Plays

East Orange High School (NJ) junior Quarterback Quadir Pendleton is definitely one to watch. He has been one of the most electrifying players in Essex county for the past 2 seasons. Over that time he has accumulated over 3,600 passing yards, 400 rushing yards, 50 total touchdowns and only 15 interceptions.

Although he possesses the athletic ability to scramble for first downs, he does not consider himself a running quarterback. " I'm more of a passing quarterback. I can scramble to get out of trouble but I prefer to just sit back and throw it. I'm more relaxed than anything. I'm a calm player and good decision maker with the football" said Quadir. His good decision-making Ability is backed by his 3 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio.

The first team All- Essex County, 6-foot-4, 190 pound quarterback received an abundance of post season honors and awards. Quadir stated "I have been invited to just about every combine, was named Junior of the Year in Essex County and was invited to the Elite 11 Event". Being that the Elite 11 is one of the most prestigious honors for a high school quarterback, Pendleton is obviously on the road to success. He currently only holds 1 offer from Oregon, but has many suitors including Rutgers, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Miami, and Pittsburg. "The head coach from Pittsburg was at my school talking to my coach the other day" he said.

As for his interest in Rutgers, he stated "I camped there last year. They are a good school. They are recruiting me as a wide receiver. I'll be there at the end of the month for my 7-on-7 and to learn more about them". As of right now, his favorites are Florida, Miami and Ohio State. Although he hasn't received the major attention from Florida, as of yet anyway, one of the main reasons why he lists them is because he would like the opportunity to play with his cousin. "If the opportunity comes, I would like to play with my cousin Will Hill. Yea that's my cousin, and he's up there" Pendleton said. His 3 key factors in selecting a school are early playing time, a good computer engineering program and coaching. We will keep you posted as his recruitment unfolds.
