Good Bloodlines Can't be Taught

Nate Smith is a hard-hitting, 6'0 220 pound, wrecking ball middle linebacker for the Highland Park H.S. (NJ) Owls. He is also the captain of his football team and brother of one of the greatest tight ends to ever come out of the state of New Jersey, L.J. Smith. Nate shares the tremendous athletic ability of L.J. along with a mean streak making him more of a defensive prospect than his big brother.

"I am very unique. I like contact, am powerful and will play through pain. Basically, I'll do anything to get that W (win)", Smith said. Nate's hard nose approach has earned him interest from Rutgers, Florida State, Ohio State, UConn and Notre Dame. Although he has yet to receive any offers, teams have definitely taken notice and could pull the trigger at any moment. As of right now his favorite is Rutgers. "I like how the program (Rutgers) is run and how they handle the recruiting process" he said.

Although his brother is an All-time Rutgers great, the All- Middlesex County performer has his own criteria outside of that in selecting a school. Nate stated, "I have 3 key factors in selecting a school. The first is the determination of how I am going to be utilized position-wise, second would be the coaching style and third the overall environment". Smith would also like to make an early decision as soon as the appropriate options are on the table.

Nate's tremendous nose for the football helped produce 95 tackles, 14 of which were for loss. Offensively, he rushed for 467 yards and caught for 350 more. He plans to make an appearance at the Ohio State camp as well as Nike combine to broaden his horizons and open the floodgates of possibility. I'm sure his play will speak for itself.
