Nick Forbes out of Thomas Johnson H.S. (MD) is truly a national recruit. At 6'1 215 lbs., his production on the field and 3.64 GPA have earned him 9 early offers. This extremely bright young man is a true leader and has the potential to be a great player for any school in the country advantaged enough to sign him.

Nick Forbes has it all… good size, elite speed, tremendous heart, a high level of intelligence, and the toughness to land a good pop. He is truly a nice guy but don't it misconstrued, the kid has a mean streak on the football field and will make you pay for underestimating his nastiness.

"On defense, I like to hit. I am an active sideline-to-sideline backer. I keep my nose to the football. Offensively, I am an aggressive runner who tends to finish off runs", he said. Nick finished the 2008 season with 96 tackles, 6 for loss, 2 interceptions, one of which went back for a TD, and four sacks. On offense, he rushed for 1,175 yards and 15 TD's on only 143 carries.

The 2nd Team All-State as well as All- Area Defensive player of the Year selection plans to play linebacker on the next level. "I am good at making defensive reads. It comes more natural to me than running the football, although I guess I'm good at that as well, but I am more instinctive on defense and have better lateral than strait line speed", said Forbes. Nick's lateral speed definitely passes the test, based on his 4.34 shuttle time.

His 9 offers have come at the hands of Rutgers, California, Stanford, Boston College, Pittsburg, West Virginia, Maryland, Duke and Wake Forrest. "All of my offers are my favorites", he said jokingly. Forbes is looking to attend a school that offers his dream major of mechanical engineering. He is hoping to make a decision before his senior football season.

As for RU, he stated, "Coach Schiano stopped by my school for a brief moment. He couldn't say much of anything to me which was awkward, but I understand why. He told my coach, he's not gonna break the rules just to recruit me, and expect me to follow the rules if I decide to come to Rutgers. That would be sending the wrong message. I have a lot of respect for him for that and can't wait to visit them", Forbes said.

Nick's goal for the upcoming season is to have a memorable year playing with his teammates and hopefully bring a banner to Thomas Johnson H.S. He stated, "Statistics really don't matter. Team is what's important. I just want to have a good time with my guys, doing what we love to do, and hopefully win a state championship in the process". Nick plans to take an unofficial visit to Rutgers to truly determine his interest level in the program. We'll keep you posted.
