WR Heating Up

Victor Walker is motivated to demonstrate that basketball stars can play football too. It's only natural to think that if one has the coordination to play basketball, then you must be able to play somewhere on the football field as well. Victor has proven that notion to be correct. At 6-foot-1 170 lbs., Walker broke out at WR for the Thomas Johnson H.S. football squad.

In 2008, Victor Walker compiled over 600 yards on 46 receptions with 4 TD's to go along with it. His efforts earned him a spot on the All- Area Team.

The Jr. standout averaged 14 points and 5 assists per game as a guard for the organized basketball team this past season. He is silky smooth and a leader on the court. Being that basketball is his main sport, he had to be persuaded by his good friend, teammate and national recruit Nick Forbes to even try out for the gridiron. "Nick kept staying on me to play. He knew I was a good athlete and thought I could help the team so I came out. That's the kind of guy he is". Nick's persistence obviously paid off. Victor's contributions helped catapult the program to a 6-4 overall record.

As far as his style of play, Walker stated, "I am aggressive and like to go up and get the ball". His aggressive style has earned him attention from Delaware who recently paid his school a visit. He has received letters from other schools in regards to football but hasn't been shown much serious interest as of yet. Victor plans to attend the Nike combine in Baltimore as well as the Shuman Underclassman Combine to improve the state of his recruitment.

Victor attended the Rutgers game vs. Pitt earlier this past season. He stated, "Me and Nick went to watch them (Rutgers) play Pittsburgh. They beat them pretty good. I like them. If they showed me attention, I would definitely be interested".

Walker's goals for the upcoming season are to earn 1,000 receiving yards, win Player of the Year, and finally win a state championship. SOR will keep you posted.
