O-Lineman on the Rise

Jr. Frank Quartucci of Hamilton West H.S. (NJ) burst onto the scene at the Chuck Mound Challenge by displaying the tangibles needed to contribute at the next level. At 6'4 290 lbs., he has the ideal size and athletic ability to become a D1A recruit. Colleges are slowly but surely beginning to show interest in the competitive big man.

At the Challenge, Frank Quartucci stood out in drills and in 1-on 1's as well. The young lineman ran a 5.3 forty on a slow surface and proved to be one of the top players at the event. He also claims a max bench press of 340 lbs.

"I am hearing from Rutgers, Michigan State and a few Ivy league schools like Lehigh, Dartmouth, Lafayette, and Penn. I like the Ivy League schools but would also love the opportunity to attend a big school like Rutgers", he said. In addition to athletics, Frank maintains a 3.5 GPA, and therefore is receiving a good amount of attention, but he currently has no actual scholarship offers at this time.

He also mentioned, "Rutgers is a great program especially being that they are the home school and all. It would be my dream to play there. I grew up watching them play. My coach and I plan to make it down for spring practice next week".

The 2nd Team All-CVC selection is an absolute competitor. As for his playing style, he stated, "I like to dominate every game and every D-Lineman I face. I try to stay aggressive, block to the whistle and keep quick feet. I keep that in my mind every play. Also I get excited when my running back gets a 20-yard gain because of my key block. It makes me feel good".

Frank has set a few goals for the upcoming season. He mentioned, "My goals for next season are for us to be the powerhouse team in our area and for other teams to fear us. I also plan to push myself to the max to become a top recruit. I go so hard sometimes that my teammates think im crazy".

Quartucci was invited to the Big Time Showcase which takes place later this spring. There, he will have the opportunity to measure his skill level against the best in the region. SOR will keep you posted as to his development.
