Mitch Devall: Up and Coming DT

In 2008, Gateway H.S. (PA) was led to a 12-1 record by a terrific anchor in the middle of their defensive line. Standing 6'1 325 lbs., Jr. Mitch Devall currently holds down the fort while making tough plays along the line of scrimmage. His formidable girth and ability has earned him interest from a few collegiate programs but he is on a mission for more attention.

"I had about 25 tackles from my defensive tackle post while splitting time to fulfill my occasional offensive line duties as well. People tell me I am more equipped to play defense on the next level. My best attribute is my aggression", said Mitch Devall.

Mitch sports a 3.0 grade point average which has also aided him in receiving interest from Rutgers, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Duke, Toledo and Buffalo. Although he currently has not been offered, he intends to improve his recruitment through accelerated production during the upcoming football season. Depending on whether or when he receives his collegiate scholarship offers, Devall would like to make his decision and commit early.

Mitch has already attended Jr. Days at West Virginia and Toledo and plans to attend an additional one at Buffalo in the near future. Devall also hopes to attend the Spring Game at Rutgers University on April 18th.

"Next year, I plan to get a little more fit and much faster. I am currently working on all aspects of improving my 40 time. I also hope to lead my team better and become more of a family and ultimately play up to our expectations. We were undefeated going into the state championship game and lost to Bethel Park. This season we hope for a better finish", Mitch said.

As for his Rutgers interest, Mitch stated, "I think they are a good program. They send me some things. I was at the Pitt game last year when they beat them. They (RU) proved to be good offensively and defensively as well. If they decide to recruit me harder, I would listen". SOR will stay on top of the situation.
