Sophomore McEvoy Gets 1st Offer

Not too long ago, SOR did a feature on a young, talented, WR/Safety and soon- to-be quarterback named Tanner McEvoy. Monday, the 6'5 200 lb. sophomore QB received great news from Head Coach Schiano in regards to his academic future; he will be offered a full academic scholarship to play football at Rutgers University on September 1st.

" I feel very good obviously. I am surprised but excited. They (Rutgers) had definitely shown the most interest but I didn't see this coming. I was up on an unofficial visit Monday in which one of the assistants told me that Coach Schiano wanted to meet with me after practice. We then proceeded to his office where he informed me that I will receive a written scholarship offer on September 1st. "I was shocked and excited. My family and I went out to dinner to celebrate afterwards", said Tanner McEvoy.

Rutgers definitely had the upper hand in the recruitment of the young sophomore being that his brother Colin currently plays for the team. The staff is obviously already very familiar with the young man and comfortable enough with his character as well as athletic ability to extend him such a great early honor.

Tanner has a ton of time to make a decision and will definitely take his time in making a commitment. He stated, "I plan to wait and take a look at all of my options in order to make an informed decision. Rutgers is a great program and to be offered is an honor". SOR will keep you posted as the story develops.
