Joe Brennan: Accuracy in Abundance

Jr. Joe Brennan, who led Camden Catholic to a 9-2 record in 2008, is a highly poised and accurate high school signal caller. In 2008, he completed 152 out of 215 passing attempts for approximately 2,500 yards and 28 overall touchdowns. His effectiveness along with his 3.3 GPA has officially been rewarded with an athletic scholarship offer from the Scarlet Knights.

Joe Brennan mentioned, "Rutgers is a great program. There is something special about your first offer so I am definitely keeping them in mind. They are close to home and seem to recruit quarterbacks from New Jersey which is good. I also received an offer from Stanford which is top notch in academics. Maryland and Pittsburgh show me pretty heavy interest as well so I have a few nice options to consider so far".

Brennan has also participated in basketball and baseball for Camden Catholic. On the mound, the former pitcher was known as his squad's ace, but Joe has since stepped away from the diamond to focus on the gridiron. He will continue to play basketball because he feels that it improves his agility as well as foot speed.

With Joe and company, productivity obviously isn't an issue. The 6'4 195 lb., superstar quarterback has the luxury of having two possible future FBS players to throw the football to. He attributes his 70% pass completion rate to his talented teammates.

When asked about playing with Sherard Cadogan and Terrence Casper, he stated, "I love throwing the ball to those guys. Whatever you throw them, they just go up and get. Sherard is good at catching the balls across the middle and Terrence is uncoverable when throwing a high ball to the outside. We are an unstoppable combination. Both guys are very hard workers. We spend a lot of time over my house either watching film, doing football activities, or just hanging out".

In regards to his attributes, he mentioned, "My favorite throw is the skinny post. I have a strong arm and good accuracy. I'm always aware of where the chains are, and when pressured, I can tuck it away and run or get the ball off outside the pocket. Most people don't know but I ran for 305 yards and 3 touchdowns as well. Ultimately, I just make plays".

The 1st Team All- Parochial selection has a couple goals for the upcoming season. "I truly want to avenge our losses to Shawnee and St. Joes Montvale. I also plan to do my best to lead my team in the best way possible. SOR will stay in touch with Brennan to see how his recruitment progresses over the course of the off-season. Stay tuned.
