Columbus 2011 DE will be a major prospect.

2011 DE Anthony Rabasa, who currently measures in at 6'3 215 lbs, has been a two year starter at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, Florida. He is one player to certainly pay attention this spring and fall. Even though the 2010 Class of prospects in South Florida is off the charts, this rising junior will be amongst the top overall players in the region in the coming year.

Rabasa was part of a defensive line unit the last two year's that included Rutgers-bound Antwan Lowery and Central Michigan-bound Caesar Rodriguez. On film, while Lowery has the upside and big potential and Rodriguez has the motor and tenacity, Rabasa comes off as a combination of both. He is a great looking prospect on film. He has great height at 6'3 and probably still growing. He already weighs 215 pounds and could be in the 240 range two years from now, he was long arms, plays with a strong core and is rangy.

Some recruiting services in South Florida have Rabasa projected as a top 5 player in the region for 2011. If he continues growing and developing at this pace, he most certainly will be a national recruit.

Early on, Rabasa is hearing from schools such as Wake Forest, Miami, Florida, Wisconsin and Rutgers. "They send letters and stuff but I have not spoken to any coaches yet. Coach Merritt has showed my film to a lot of coaches and he said that he gets very positive responses. I am just going to continue to work hard and we'll see what happens".
While Rabasa is a big fan of the hometown school, he is not set on staying close to home. "I grew up being a huge Hurricane fan. I love the U growing up. We will see if they recruit me and also down the road if that is the right place for me".

He will also take a college visit to Rutgers for the upcoming spring game. "I am flying up with Antwan for the game. Antwan really helped me develop as a player during my two years with him. I consider him one of my closest friends. I know he really likes Rutgers and wants me to strongly consider them down the road. But at the same time, he tells me I have to do what's best for me".
