Freshman Phenom Alert

Paramus Catholic H.S. (NJ) appears to have another player in Leo Krizanovic. The unbelievable thing is that he happens to be a freshman in a senior's body. Leo played this past varsity season at 6'2 235 lbs. and if you didn't know better, you would think that he was actually too old to be playing high school football.

Leo Krizanovic was highly productive in his first dosage of organized football while accounting for 55 total tackles and 2 sacks. SOR caught up with him to discuss his bright future ahead.

When asked what he was able to bring to the table at such an early age for the Paramus Catholic football program, he responded, "hard hitting and aggression. I am a pretty good tackler. Being that the sport was new to me, I started off just hitting people hard and learned as I went along. I played 2 varsity games at nose tackle and 4 more at linebacker. I felt comfortable at both positions but enjoyed playing linebacker more."

He went on to mention, "I don't play any other sports… just football. The thing I like most about the game is that, not only am I trying to win, but I get the opportunity make that first big hit to get everyone hyped up."

Based on his body's natural filling out process, Leo could possibly permanently end up with his hand on the ground. "I am up to 252 now. I just weighed myself. I gained around 15 lbs. since the season ended because I'm lifting weights now and all."

Leo has already received interest from Penn State and Temple. In regards to Rutgers, he stated, "If they were to offer me, I would consider them. I speak to my teammate Dan Foose and he likes them (Rutgers) a lot. I have a lot of respect for Dan and his opinion. He's a terrific teammate and has a great voice. He can really pump you up and is a great player".

Although he is still young, Leo seems to know what he wants. "I want to go to a college with a good engineering program. Any school with that attribute would get my consideration.", said Leo.

In closing, Leo talked a little about his goals going forward; "I plan to try and stand out especially since so many recruiters are going to be coming around to see Dan". SOR will keep you posted on the developement of this tremendous young talent.
