Big Time Receiver Prepared to Showcase Skills

Jr. Najee Salaam of Passaic H.S. is a huge receiver with terrific skills. He measures in at 6'5 205 lbs and has a ton of athletic ability. Although he has no offers as of yet, probably due to a team record of 1-9 this past season, there are still a few schools that have caught onto his talents. SOR takes you inside.

This upcoming season, Najee along with Jorge Vicioso and Jashon Dawson plan to lead the Indians from the depths of defeat to becoming a well respected team in the NNJIL B League.

The 2nd Team All- Passaic and 1st Team All-NNJIL B performer claims that a string of injuries to impact athletes played a part in Passaic's unsuccessful 2008 campaign. "We had some really key injuries for the length of the season that killed us. We really caught the injury bug and just couldn't get rid of it. This year we hope to come out healthy and play every game at full capacity."

In regards to what he likes to accomplish on the gridiron, Najee Salaam mentioned, "I just try to be a go-to-guy for my quarterback and make big plays for my team overall. I consider myself a leader and do my best to keep us in the game." In 2008, his efforts equated to 15 receptions for 375 yards and 5 TDs on a team that didn't air it out much.

"I have good hands, get off the ball excellent, run perfect routes and am a big deep threat. My favorite route is the deep streak route." said Najee.

Amongst being named the top receiver at a Umass football camp, Najee has also received tremendous honors in another sport. He stated, "I was 2nd team All- Passaic and 1st Team All- NNJIL B in basket ball as well where I averaged 15 points and 13 rebounds, but football is my main sport though."

Najee has a good number of suitors in which Rutgers is amongst. "My early favorites are Rutgers, Ohio St., Boston College, Notre Dame and North Carolina. I am looking to go to a school that has a good criminal justice program", he admitted.

In regards to Rutgers, he continued, "I was at the North Carolina game last year. They didn't really have a good day. I like them a lot though. I believe that if I were to land there, I could help them win. I also attended the spring game. It was good to see what they are about and the type of athletes they have going forward."

Najee plans to showcase his abilities at the Big Time Showcase May 7th at Rutgers. SOR will keep you posted as the story develops.
