Florida Gem has Rutgers Interest

American Heritage HS in Florida has a terrific prospect on deck. His name is Darius Millines and his talents range form being able to run the offense from the quarterback position to locking down half of the field as a cornerback. Darius displayed the mental toughness to play through a broken thumb throughout the season and still was able to compete at a high level.

the most interesting thing about this prospect to our SOR audience is his Rutgers interest.

"I like Rutgers. They seem to have a pretty good program. I have never been to Jersey but am planning on attending Rutgers camp as well as camp in Georgia. I have spoken to Coach Schiano in the past. He asked me about my 40 time and stuff like that. He seems like an honest and modest man. That's the type of thing I'm looking for; a positive environment with a positive and decent vibe", said Darius Millines.

Darius is a 6'0 180lb, terrific athlete who probably projects as an FBS cornerback, although he also possesses ideal safety and wide receiver skills as well. He mentioned, "My production was a bit down due to the fact that I played most of the season with a cast on. I still managed to accumulate 12 receptions for 200 yards, 59 carries for 659 yards from the quarterback position, 4 defensive interceptions, a defensive touchdown and a touchdown on a punt return. I ended up 1st Team All- Palm Beach County."

Amongst his many talents, Darius is also a budding track star and is actually competing to become one of the fastest players in the state of Florida. "I'm running in the state track meet tomorrow. I run a 10.76 100 and a 22.1 200. I'm coming off a first place finish in the Regionals and hope to win states as well". Darius also claims a 33 inch vertical and 4.4 forty yard dash.

As for his playing style, Darius stated, "I consider myself a calm player who plays the game how it's supposed to be played. I have a lot of knowledge about the game because I have been playing and performing at a high level since I was a kid. I like playing receiver the best. I'm best at running the slant and go."

He went on to add, "I enjoy making big plays in front of big crowds. My best attributes are my speed and vision. I'm also the type of player who even though I know the ball isn't coming to me, I run my route 100%. I feel I'm a true competitor and team player."

His current list of suitors contains Rutgers, Buffalo, Indiana, Minnesota and FIU all of which who have offered this talented young player. Darius confessed his list of favorite potential collegiate destinations; "My favorites are Georgia, Rutgers, Miami and South Florida right now and honestly, I'm leaning towards getting away from Florida though. I'm also thinking about picking a school with a good sports management program."

In regards to his Rutgers offer specifically, he mentioned. "I was happy yet shocked when I got it. At the time that it had arrived, I didn't know too much about the program so I was surprised. Since then I have had some contact with the staff and plan to learn a lot more about the program. It seems pretty cool so far. Coach Jenkins is nice."

It may be a while before we hear a commitment to any of his potential institutions. "I plan to make up my mind soon, but I don't plan to tell the world until National Signing Day. SOR will keep you posted.
