2009 NJ vs. NE All-Star Football Classic

The 2009 New Jersey vs. Northeast All-Star Football Classic, formerly known as the Governors Bowl, will kickoff June 7th at 3pm in Rutgers Stadium. The event is headed by Executive Game Director Marty Yudichak. Amongst the many individuals responsible for the organization of the extravaganza is well-respected Recruiting Analyst Chris Melvin, who conscripted the talent for this prestigious event.

The game is composed of all-star gridiron athletes from the state of New Jersey versus all-stars selected from the Northeast states of, New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Washington, D.C, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

Celebrity head coaches, both of whom are Local Legends and possess distinguished NFL backgrounds, were selected by the committee. Two time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl XVII winner Joe Theisman, formerly of the Washington Redskins, will coach the Northeast All-Stars while former All- Pro and 2-Time Giants Super Bowl Champion Phil Simms will lead the New Jersey squad.

Six Scarlet Knights accepted the esteemed honor of being selected to play for the New Jersey All-Stars as well as one more who will compete for the Northeast squad. WR Aaron Hayward will attend and is confident in his ability to showcase his skills at the event. He has the ability to run the ball as well as stretch the field or play in the slot.

DL Mike Larrow will man the defensive line and provide us with a preview of what we have in store on the banks. According to Mike, he has actually grown a couple inches over the past couple months and stands at a lean 6'4 ½ 250lbs.

DB Quron Pratt has also accepted the honor to play and is prepared to show the State of Rutgers his complete skill set. His impeccable cover skills make him a viable candidate for playing time with the Scarlet Knights this upcoming season.

Hybrid receiver Malcolm Bush also accepted his invitation and will add athletism to tight end position for the New Jersey squad. Malcolm is another player who appears to be hitting his growth spurt and is pushing 6'5 230lbs.

DB Logan Ryan will also be in attendance. This past season, Ryan proved to be one of the best cover corners in the Northeast and he plans to prove that his recognition is well deserved. Logan will also compete for playing time within the Scarlet Knights' competition- filled defensive backfield this upcoming season.

LB Ka'Lial Glaud will man the middle for the NJ All-Stars and definitely appears prepared to dominate. The 6'2 230lb Glaud looks to further fuel his reputation of being one of the most explosive and hard- hitting defensive athletes in the Northeast region.

RB DeAntwan Williams is the only Scarlet Knight to compete for the Northeast All-Stars but will still be representing the state of Rutgers with pride. Williams is rated one of the top inside runners in the country. His vision, power and low center of gravity makes him a valuable asset for the Northeast team and for Rutgers thereafter.

Other notable attendees include Josh Evans (Irvington), Tyree Watkins (Camden), Tyson Chandler (North Plainfield), Raymond Graham (Elizabeth), Glenn Carson (Southern Regional), Khalil Wilkes (St. Peters Prep), Oday Aboushi (Xaverian), Justin Brown (Concord), Carlo Calabrese (Verona), Dillon Romaine (Don Bosco Prep), Mike Cole (North Brunswick) and Elijah "Big Baby" Grant (Piscataway).

Video interviews will follow throughout the week.
