Arie Visits Big Man Academy

Jr. OL Arie Kouandjio of Dematha (MD) is now considered in the top handful of offensive linemen in the nation. He claims an astounding 38 offers of which Rutgers is one of the. Arie took a trip down to New Brunswick with teammates Shane Johnson and Lorenzo Waters who both also sport offers from the Scarlet Knights.

Although they didn't take in the action due to a late arrival, their presence was still felt on the banks. SOR caught up with Arie to discuss his overall impressions.

"It was good visit. Everybody enjoyed the trip. The car ride wasn't bad at all. We played video games the whole way down. It didn't take too much time at all. I must say it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I had heard some negative things but they are not true. I saw a lot of good things that I didn't expect. It just felt good. I think Rutgers is a pretty good place. The thing I noticed was the dynamic the coaches have with each other and the way the players are themselves around the coaches. I really liked that." said Arie Kouandjio.

He continued, "The staff showed me around the facilities. Gary Emanuel is my recruiting coach and he seems like a good guy. Coach Flood is cool too. He sat down at my lunch table and we talked as we watched film of the first half of the Big Man Academy. I got to see how he coaches and how he teaches through film which was pretty cool. Coach Schiano is also a really nice guy. He wants me to play tackle. I measured in at 6'5 325 lbs."

Arie has visited other schools such as Penn St., North Carolina, Maryland, West Virginia, California and Uconn. Of all the schools he visited, he mentioned, "So far I think they are all really nice but Cal was the most impressive. I don't know exactly what it was but I spent a whole day down there and got to meet most of the players and the coaches. It was a good experience. Everybody is still in it though. I don't have a top 5 so anybody can sneak in. I plan to cut down my list before the beginning of the season though". SOR will keep you advised.
