OL Quartucci Commits to Rutgers

Frank Quartucci of Hamilton West HS (NJ) is a talented offensive lineman who SOR introduced to you months ago. Frank has steadily improved throughout the off-season to the point where he has become a quite polished high school offensive lineman. His strong-suit is his technique and agile footwork for a 6'4 295-pounder. SOR caught up with Frank's coach (Coach Hoglen) to discuss his commitment.

" I asked him a couple weeks ago in a perfect world where he would want to go to play football. He told me that he wanted to stay home and represent New Jersey. He has worked really hard for this and I am excited for him and to watch him play this season." said Coach Hoglen.

He continued, "I had an idea that they would offer him. After he had a good performance at the Big Man Academy, they wanted to see him for a day in camp. Schiano saw him today during 1-on-1's where he did a great job. We talked about what would happen when we meet with the staff. We went over a bunch of scenarios. It all came down to me asking him what he wants to do if they offer. He told me that he has always wanted to play at Rutgers… and I said…alright then. Coach Schiano offered him very professionally and did not pressure him into anything. Frank had his mind made up and was ready to commit."

Coach also spoke about Frank as a player. "He is one of the most coachable kids I have ever had. He listened throughout the recruiting process and handled it really well. We worked hard on him improving his 40 time and he has also gotten better every year. He will be one of my captains this year. When we meet up for 6AM's, Frank is always the first one there and pushes everyone else to be better. He's not so vocal but leads by example.

He went on to mention, "In the last 6 months he has gotten a lot stronger and he's gonna grow to be even bigger and better. He has good feet for a 295lb. lineman and a nastiness that you don't always see. The Rutgers coaching staff really loved his ability to finish plays. Frank will play tackle for us this season but they are probably gonna move him inside to play guard.

Coach Hoglen quoted Frank as saying, "I've dreamed about being a Scarlet Knight for a long time. This is where I wanna be". SOR will keep you posted.
