OL Vicioso Commits to Rutgers

This past Saturday, Rutgers fans got a treat when they learned that agile OT Jorge Vicioso was offered a Rutgers scholarship and committed on the spot. Although Jorge is kind of hard to catch up with, we finally reached him for a quick interview about his recruiting process and decision to play for the Scarlet Knights. Take a look.

"I'm feeling real good about it (the commitment). My team was down there (at Rutgers) for the 7-on-7. Coach Flood came up to me and told me that Coach Schiano wanted to see me. He seemed excited so I knew something was going on. When I got up there, we just talked and he told me they were gonna offer me. He said that there are other lineman waiting to commit but they wanted to wait on me. He also told me not to let the world make the decision for me. I committed right there." said Jorge Vicioso.

He continued, "I like the coaching staff especially Kyle Flood. That was my main reason… because I got along with coach. We got along great. Plus, my mom feels great. She really wanted me to go to Rutgers. She is so happy and told all her friends. That made me happy."

In regards to his academic status, he mentioned, "Rutgers is gonna help me get cleared. They were the only program to talk like that to me. They are gonna do whatever it takes as long as I do whatever it takes. They are already working with my school to set me up with the right classes I need to take so I can be ready to go."

As for the coaching staff's expectations of him, he mentioned, "They wanna build me up as much as possible. They told me that when Davis leaves, I have a shot at left tackle and the chance to play as a freshman or in my second year. So I'm gonna go hard to try and take it." SOR will keep you in-tuned.
