Meet Frank Albert

One name that was on the radar of a lot of camps and schools in the past is Frank Albert out of St. Augustine's High School in Richland, Cape May County. He burst onto the high school football scene as a freshman and has since had a quiet presence and hopes to gain more thunder this year. caught up with Frank to discuss how his recruitment is going and what his upcoming plans entail.

One thing we always know is the stock market may rise and fall, but talent remains the same. That statement cannot be any more applicable than for the case of Frank Albert. When he was a freshman being invited to Shuman's Underclassman Combine and the Ultimate 100 Camp, things were looking good for the talented athlete from South Jersey. Since then, he hasn't attended many camps and been able to put out videos because of the current economic climate. But Frank Albert answered our phone call and we're committed to get his name out there so the talented 5'11" and 185 lb. athlete is not passed over.

Over the past year, Frank had an injury keep him out of a few games as a running back for his high school which slowed his junior year. A little bit of a late bloomer, Frank is now being changed to defensive back and wide receiver because he's grown 3 inches and gained 20 lbs. since last year. He informed us he ran a 4.62 - 40 at a camp his sophomore year and told us he hasn't been timed since. He feels he's probably in the sub-4.5 range now after bulking up more and working on his speed. To go with his physical strengths, he also has a 3.2 GPA and already has a 1090 SAT on the Math and Verbal.

To date, Frank has no offers on his table and very few colleges have come calling. Rutgers, UConn, Temple, and Lehigh have all corresponded with him and he's also interested in going to a west coast school like Fresno State or San Diego State. Either way, Frank is looking for a school on the east or west coasts that is close to a beach so he can enjoy the summer as well as the fall. He's not overly concerned if the school is in a rural or urban area and would like a school with a very good pre-dental program. As far as colleges within those realms, he said he "wants to go to a football program that cares and is serious."

As far as his thoughts on local colleges, his eyes are pretty set on Rutgers. He went for a visit there and feels they have a great weight room and a nice athletic center. He really likes the school layout and they have his major of interest in pre-dental. He said the school has a very good reputation as an academic institution and he feels it would be a good place to continue his education. He feels education is very important to him because he wants to make a good living after college and have a solid degree to back that up.

As far as goals for the upcoming season, Frank is hoping to set the single season interception record for St. Augustine's. He already holds the career interception number, but couldn't break the single season number because of his 4 game absence due to an injury last year. He's hoping to improve on the recognitions he received last year as a 2nd team All-League and 1st team All-Prep performer and get recognized as All-State. He's also hoping to lead his team to the state finals, which will be an improvement of their runner-up finish this past year. Overall, he wants to be recognized for the talent and leadership he brings to the team and wants to play his way onto a college team in the near future.
