SOR speaks to Hursey

At 5'11 and 180 lbs, Don Hursey (HD Woodson-DC) is a physical cover-corner who currently holds two offers from North Carolina and Vanderbilt. His confidence level is high and he is on a mission to attain offers from additional institutions. One of those institutions happens to be Rutgers who apparently is recruiting him as well although not that aggressively.

Take a look at his thoughts on the Knights.

"I used to be recruited by them (Rutgers) real hard. I'm not sure if they are still looking for any more DB's though. They used to be one of my favorites and it would be great if they were to offer. They are 1 of my top schools. I have been up there for a 7-on-7 earlier in the year and the BigTime Showcase. It's a nice place." said Don Hursey.

He continued, "Back in May, Coach Emanuel came to my school and talked to me and my teammate for a bit. We talked about football and he wanted us to attend their (Rutgers') camp. We couldn't make it up to camp though because of a scheduling conflict but we are still interested in the school. Coach Emanuel is a pretty good guy. He is strait to the point."

Last season, Hursey's 50 tackles, 4 interceptions, 12 pass breakups and 1 forced fumble from the cornerback position earned him 1st Team All-Conference honors. Don mentioned, "I am real physical… a shut down corner. I feel like a wide receiver isn't gonna just line up and catch passes on me. I play corner with the mindset of a receiver. I like to attack the football and go for 10-plus interceptions on the season."

As for his feeling on the schools who have offered him, he said, "I really like UNC because they were the first to see something in me and offer me. I really like Vanderbilt too. A lot of people think I don't like them but the school is great. Their academics are highly respected and they are an up-and-coming team. Plus, they are in the SEC."

Don is looking to go to a school where he can get a good education, play early and for a good DB coach that can get him into the NFL. He claims that he is currently just working on himself and getting ready for the upcoming season where his goals are to make it back to the championship game and win it as well as make All-MET. Hursey will also contribute on offense in 2009 from the slot position. SOR will keep you informed.
