His college career is 15 games old now. That hasn't stopped some folks at Villanova from reaching deep into the school's rich tradition of guards to figure out just where Randy Foye fits in -- and whom he compares to. "People around here, the old-timers, say he reminds them of Wali Jones," Villanova coach Jay Wright said, referring to one of the Wildcats' all-time greats, a player who started on the Philadelphia 76ers' 1966-67 championship team. "I only remember Wali Jones as a pro, when he was a scorer. But all the older Villanova people say that Randy reminds them of him."

PISCATAWAY -- Rutgers coach Gary Waters said yesterday that it is far too early to declare tonight's matchup with Villanova a must-win game.

Women's basketball

Harry Perretta, a 25-year veteran coach at Villanova and one of the most respected voices in women's college basketball, believes Rutgers is the second-most talented team in the Big East, presumably behind Connecticut. "They are close in terms of physical ability to the Final Four team (in 2000)," Perretta said after Rutgers handed No.‚19 Villanova a 58-57 defeat Wednesday night. "They're so quick, and they can score off the dribble. Their only weakness is they don't make a lot of 3s. I think they are one of the top two teams in the Big East talent-wise."
