Blowout: WVU 86 - RU 75

West Virginia out played Rutgers wire to wire. Though the final score didn't show it, this game was never a contest. The Knights dropped their fifth straight and remain the only winless Big East team in conference competition.

Jerome Coleman was benched to start the game in favor of last game's star, Calvin Wooten. Coleman however came back into the game to give RU their only spark in the first half as the Mountaineer's dominated the early going. Using superb ball movement and excellent outside shooting the Mountaineers carried a 13 point lead into the locker at the half.

The Mountaineers hit .663 from the field and .667 from the three point line to dominate the Knights at the half way mark. West Virginia was lead but it Drew Schifino's 17 points and Kevin Pittsnogle's 15. Only 11 points (including three three's) by Coleman kept Rutgers in the game.

In the second half it was simply more of the same. The Rutgers pressure did little. West Virginia had half the turnovers of Rutgers for most of the game. West Virginia simply out played and out shot Rutgers wire to wire. Though the final score didn't show it, West Virginia dominated the Knights throughout the game.

Drew Schifino led all scorers with 32 points..

Jerome Coleman led the Knight with 30.

West Virginia hit an incredible .696 from beyond the three point line and hit .574 from the field altogether.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) Drew Schifino scored 32 points and Kevin Pittsnogle added a career-high 26 as West Virginia beat Rutgers 86-75 on Sunday.
